Frequently asked questions

What is a Certificate of Good Standing?

An official letter from the Thai Medical Council confirming the doctor's active licensure, current standing, and absence of disciplinary records. It's the core document every foreign Medical Board requires.

Can Apostille be used everywhere?

Apostille covers all 125+ Hague Convention members (US, EU, Japan, Korea, Australia). Middle East destinations (UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia) still require traditional embassy legalization.

How long does the whole process take?

TMC issues the Certificate in 5–10 business days, plus 1–3 days for notary/translation, 3–5 days for MFA, and 3–14 days for Apostille/Embassy. Total 14–35 business days.

Do board certificates need separate legalization?

Yes, when the destination Medical Board reviews specialty training. We obtain them from the relevant Royal College and legalize them in the same chain as the main licence.

Does this work for dentists and pharmacists?

Yes — identical workflow with the Dental Council or Pharmacy Council of Thailand as the source authority. Notary, MFA, and Apostille steps are the same.

Why medical certificates get rejected — and how to fix it

Short answer: Recipients refuse certificates issued outside the validity window, forms without a licence number or clinic seal, certificates missing the prescribed tests, and certificates used abroad without onward certification.

Issued outside the accepted window

Underlying cause
Some recipients accept only 30-day-old certificates
Prevent before filing
Book the examination counting back from the filing date
How to fix a rejection
Re-examine and reissue
Estimated time cost
Adds roughly 1–5 working days (estimate)

No licence number or clinic seal

Underlying cause
An internal form without the required fields
Prevent before filing
Check for physician name, licence number, seal and date
How to fix a rejection
Request a compliant reissue
Estimated time cost
Adds roughly 1–3 working days (estimate)

Prescribed tests not itemised

Underlying cause
A general check-up replaced the specified panel
Prevent before filing
Give the clinic the recipient's test list in advance
How to fix a rejection
Complete the missing tests and reissue
Estimated time cost
Adds roughly 2–7 working days (estimate)

Used abroad without certification

Underlying cause
Assumed a medical certificate is accepted as issued
Prevent before filing
Check whether translation plus consular certification or apostille is needed
How to fix a rejection
Translate and run the prescribed chain
Estimated time cost
Adds roughly 3–10 working days (estimate)

We map the recipient's requirements and sequence examination, translation and certification so the certificate is still valid on filing day.

Durations are working-day estimates excluding agency queues, and are not a guarantee of any authority's decision.

Service steps at a glance and the documents you need first

Medical certificates, laboratory results and treatment records used abroad must be issued by a licensed facility, naming the signing physician and licence number. The signature is then certified and the file legalised before submission to the destination embassy as the receiver requires.

How the work runs

  1. Confirm the required form and test panel — Same day
  2. Attend the examination and collect originals — 1–5 working days (estimate, depends on the panel)
  3. Prepare the translation — 1–2 working days (estimate)
  4. Certify the signature and legalise — 1–3 working days (estimate)
  5. File at the destination embassy and deliver — 2–10 working days (estimate)

Documents to prepare first

  • Original certificate stating physician name, licence number and examination date
  • Passport or ID with spelling matching the certificate
  • Relevant laboratory results or diagnostic imaging reports
  • The specific health form issued by the embassy, institution or insurer
  • Vaccination record or certificate bearing the facility stamp
  • Consent to disclose health information, where the receiver requires it

If you would rather not risk repeat examinations or expiry mid-process, our advisory team can sequence and run the whole chain. Initial consultation is available by phone, LINE or email.
