Notarial Services & Document Certification

Signature witnessing, affidavits, statutory declarations and certified true copies are performed by a Notarial Services Attorney registered with the Lawyers Council of Thailand under its Notarial Services Attorney regulation. Thailand has no Anglo-American style Notary Public; only a Thai lawyer holding this registration may notarise here.

Translation & Certified Translation

Official and legal document translation with the certification format the receiving authority actually accepts — agency certification, a translator registered with the Ministry of Justice, an embassy-sworn translator, or a NAATI-certified translator for Australian submissions. The required format depends on the receiving body, not on the document itself.

Legalisation, Consular, Embassy & Apostille

Certification for overseas use runs through the Legalisation Division of the Department of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, followed by the destination embassy. Thailand has acceded to the Hague Apostille Convention (1961), which enters into force for Thailand on 28 February 2027. Until that date the conventional MFA-plus-embassy chain still applies.

Criminal Record Checks & Police Clearance

Police clearance certificates are issued by the Police Clearance Service Centre, Royal Thai Police (Special Branch) for visa, permanent residence and overseas employment purposes. Most destinations additionally require certified translation and legalisation before the certificate is accepted.
