12 most-requested Apostille items by foreigners in Thailand: marriage, birth, criminal record, transcripts, DBD affidavit, POA, passport copy, signature auth, certified translation, medical fitness, single-status, land deed. Each has a different issuer, prep, notary requirement, DCA fee, and lead time. Public/government docs go direct to DCA; private docs require Notarial Services Attorney first.
1) Marriage certificate (ทะเบียนสมรส / คร.3, คร.2)
**Issuer:** Bureau of Registration Administration (BORA), district office (Amphoe / Khet).
**Prep:** request a fresh certified extract from BORA (THB 50–100, same-day). Most foreign authorities reject extracts > 3–6 months old.
**Notary need:** none (public document).
**DCA Apostille:** quote on request (phone / LINE / email) standard / 400 express. Lead time: 0–1 day.
**Common use cases:** EU/UK/US/AU spouse-visa, family reunification, joint banking, name-change petitions.
2) Birth certificate (สูติบัตร / ทร.1, ทร.2)
**Issuer:** BORA (district office where birth was registered).
**Prep:** certified extract; if original is pre-1990 and handwritten, request a digital re-issue (typed) — receiving authorities increasingly refuse handwritten certificates.
**Notary need:** none.
**DCA Apostille:** quote on request (phone / LINE / email) / 400.
**Use cases:** dual-citizenship applications, US I-130 derivative children, UK ILR child dependants, EU registration of birth abroad.
3) Criminal-record certificate (ใบรับรองความประพฤติ / Police Clearance)
**Issuer:** Royal Thai Police, Criminal Records Division (CID), Pak Khlong San.
**Prep:** fingerprint capture at CID (THB 100), online appointment via Police e-Service. Issuance: 7–15 working days. Foreigners must include all Thai immigration entry stamps + accommodation history.
**Notary need:** none.
**DCA Apostille:** quote on request (phone / LINE / email) / 400. Validity in most receiving states: 3–6 months from issue.
**Use cases:** EU long-stay visa, Australia GTE, Canada PR, US K-1 fiancé, NAATI translator accreditation.
4) Academic transcripts + degree certificates
**Issuer:** Thai HEI (Ministry of Higher Education-recognised). Foreign-degree holders: original institution + Office of the Permanent Secretary MoE Equivalence (if needed).
**Prep:** transcript + degree on institution letterhead, signed by Registrar, with institution seal. WES / ECE evaluations are separate; not a substitute.
**Notary need:** none for MoE-recognised Thai HEIs (treated as public docs). Foreign-issued transcripts: notarise certified true copy first.
**DCA Apostille:** quote on request (phone / LINE / email) / 400 per document (a transcript + degree = 2 docs).
**Use cases:** overseas postgraduate admissions, employment visas, professional licensing (medicine, law, engineering).
5) DBD company affidavit (หนังสือรับรองบริษัท)
**Issuer:** Department of Business Development (DBD), Ministry of Commerce.
**Prep:** online order via DBD e-Service (quote on request (phone / LINE / email) per company + quoted on request delivery). Standard validity expected by foreign receivers: ≤ 3 months.
**Notary need:** none for DBD-issued certified extract. English translation: notarise translator signature first.
**DCA Apostille:** quote on request (phone / LINE / email) / 400. For bilingual TH/EN bundle, count as 1 document if bound.
**Use cases:** offshore bank-account opening, foreign-subsidiary registration, M&A due diligence, cross-border guarantor evidence.
6) Power of Attorney (POA / หนังสือมอบอำนาจ)
**Issuer:** private document drafted by counsel.
**Prep:** bilingual TH/EN with explicit scope (specific vs general), governing law clause, expiry date. Principal signs before Notarial Services Attorney with valid ID.
**Notary need:** yes — signature-authentication + notarial certificate.
**DCA Apostille:** quote on request (phone / LINE / email) / 400 on the notary's signature.
**Use cases:** sale of foreign property, court representation abroad, tax-filing delegation, banking transactions.
7) Certified true copy of passport
**Issuer:** notarisation only (the passport itself is the public doc, but the copy is a private act).
**Prep:** original passport sighted by Notarial Services Attorney; copy of bio-page (+ Thai visa pages if relevant).
**Notary need:** yes.
**DCA Apostille:** quote on request (phone / LINE / email) / 400.
**Use cases:** offshore-trust KYC, beneficial-ownership filings (CRS/FATCA), foreign work-permit applications.

**Notary fee:** quote on request (phone / LINE / email).
**DCA Apostille:** quote on request (phone / LINE / email) / 400.
**Use cases:** any non-English Thai document destined abroad. Some EU states (Germany, France) additionally require a sworn-translator (vereidigt / assermenté) at destination — Apostille does not substitute.
10) Medical fitness certificate (ใบรับรองแพทย์ — for visa)
**Issuer:** MoPH-licensed hospital, signed by physician with medical-council number.
**Prep:** standard MoPH form (TM.8.3 or visa-specific equivalent), tests per destination requirements (e.g., Australia eMedical panel: HAP-ID + Bumrungrad/MedPark/BNH).
**Notary need:** none if hospital seal + physician signature present and hospital is MoPH-listed. Some receivers require notarisation of physician signature — confirm with destination embassy.
**DCA Apostille:** quote on request (phone / LINE / email) / 400.
**Use cases:** long-stay visas (Australia subclass 482/186, US H-1B medical, Thai LTR Visa health insurance proof for renewal).
11) Single-status / no-impediment to marriage certificate
**Thai national:** issued by BORA district office (ใบรับรองความเป็นโสด).
**Foreigner resident in Thailand:** issued by home-country embassy in Bangkok (e.g., affirmation of marital status from US Embassy, certificate of no impediment from British Embassy) → THEN translated → notarised translation → Apostille (Apostille only useful if the destination of subsequent marriage is itself a HCCH state OR not the embassy's own home country).
**Validity:** typically 3–6 months at destination.

**Use cases:** offshore mortgage collateral, beneficial-ownership disclosure under CRS/FATCA, foreign-court asset declarations, divorce-court asset disclosure.
คำถามที่พบบ่อย
Can DCA Apostille a document issued in a foreign country?+
No. DCA only Apostilles documents originating in Thailand or notarised by a Thai Notarial Services Attorney. Foreign-issued documents must be Apostilled by the issuing country's Competent Authority, then used directly in Thailand (Thailand is the receiving state and accepts foreign Apostilles from 28 February 2027).
Is there a cap on how many documents I can submit in one DCA visit?+
No statutory cap. In practice, the express tier processes up to 30 documents per applicant per day if submitted before 11:00. Larger batches roll to next-day standard tier.
Do I need an in-person Notarial Services Attorney appointment, or is video-notary acceptable?+
For HCCH Apostille purposes, Thai notary law still requires in-person attendance for signature-authentication acts. Remote/online notarisation (RON) is not yet codified in Thailand — pending Lawyers Council guidance expected 2026/27.
Will the Apostille expire?+
The Apostille itself does not expire. However, the underlying document may carry a destination-imposed validity window (e.g., criminal record ≤ 6 months, single-status ≤ 3 months). Re-issue the source, re-Apostille at quote on request (phone / LINE / email).
Can the Apostille be issued in English only?+
The HCCH model heading is in French ('APOSTILLE — Convention de La Haye du 5 octobre 1961') — non-negotiable. DCA fills the 10 data fields in English by default; Thai duplicate is optional and free on request.
