I'm a US citizen in Bangkok — can I get a notary recognised by US authorities?
Yes. A Thai Notarial Services Attorney can notarise affidavits, POAs, passport copies, and corporate documents. For US use, attach an Apostille from the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Thailand joined the Hague Apostille Convention on 1 January 2025). Documents are then accepted by US courts, banks, and federal agencies without further legalization.
I'm a British citizen — do I need the British Embassy or a Thai notary?
Most UK-bound documents only need: (1) Notarial Services Attorney signature/seal in Thailand, plus (2) Thai MFA Apostille. The British Embassy in Bangkok no longer notarises documents themselves; they refer applicants to a Thai notary first. UK Land Registry, HMRC, and Companies House accept Apostilled Thai notarisations.
